MP from 'Servant of the People' exposed for corruption — what is known

Last Saturday, August 2, an operation was conducted to identify individuals involved in corruption cases. Among the participants in the corrupt scheme for the procurement of drones and means for ensuring electronic security was MP from the 'Servant of the People' party Oleksiy Kuznetsov.

This information was disseminated by the head of the 'Servant of the People' faction David Arakhamia via Telegram.

According to Arakhamia, in the statement from NABU and SAP regarding the exposure of individuals involved in the corrupt scheme, it mentions MP Oleksiy Kuznetsov. Although officially, NABU and SAP do not name the names of officials.

David Arakhamia emphasized that the faction fully supports NABU and SAP's actions in combating corruption.

During the investigation, the membership of MP Oleksiy Kuznetsov in the faction will be suspended, he stressed.

'We expect a court hearing on this case in due time. Those guilty of corruption crimes must face just punishment regardless of their status and positions.

The anti-corruption infrastructure works independently, and the recently passed presidential law provides all the necessary guarantees for this. The interaction of all in the state to combat corruption is extremely important, — wrote Arakhamia.

According to NABU, the scheme involved suppliers inflating state contracts, while participants in the crime received up to 30% of the contract amount as a bribe.

Currently, four individuals have been arrested under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.

Oleksiy Kuznetsov was elected MP from the 'Servant of the People' in 2019 in Luhansk region. He is a member of the Human Rights Committee and the Temporary Special Commission on Tariff Policy Issues. He previously worked as an assistant to MPs from the 'Party of Regions' and 'Petro Poroshenko Bloc'.

Kuznetsov supported Draft Law No. 12414, which undermined the independence of NABU and SAP.

Earlier on the same day, Saturday, August 2, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported that NABU and SAP uncovered facts of bribery among MPs and officials.

Moreover, the Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko stated that an investigation into the participants of the corrupt scheme for the procurement of drones and REB has already begun.

As a result of uncovering corruption cases among people's representatives in Ukraine, the leadership's attempts to put an end to corruption and punish those responsible for crimes that harm the state and citizens are confirmed.
