A military ombudsman will be appointed for the Ukrainian army

Defense Minister Rustem Umierov announced that a military ombudsman will soon be appointed for the Ukrainian army, who will protect the rights of servicemen. This was reported by the information agency 'Interfax-Ukraine'.

'We have been working on proposing a military ombudsman. This year we processed several thousand complaints and claims. We are currently preparing several candidates for the announcement of the military ombudsman selection,' said Umierov.

The minister stated that the Ministry of Defense wants to protect the rights of the military, and emphasized the importance of cooperation with the High Council of Justice, other law enforcement agencies, and the Main Inspection of the Ministry of Defense.

«We will focus on human lives, on our people. Therefore, we plan to introduce a new position - military ombudsman, who will address the needs of the people and our warriors»,' added Umierov. He also noted that the military ombudsman was announced in September 2023.

The Ministry of Defense plans to abandon conscription of citizens

The Ministry of Defense plans to abandon the conscription of citizens for military service and implement new mechanisms. This was stated by Rustem Umierov during a briefing.

According to the minister, the ministry has proposals that will be discussed by the Cabinet of Ministers to avoid conscription to the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the future. The Ministry of Defense has also simplified the reporting procedure for servicemen regarding property. From now on, they only need to return a bulletproof vest and helmet after completing their service. This was reported by Defense Minister Rustem Umierov.

Thus, sleeping bags, mats, flasks, and other items will remain with the military and do not need to be returned.
