Sweden will not transfer Gripen to Ukraine: why the coalition asks to wait.
According to inkorr.com: The aviation coalition recommended Sweden to refrain from transferring Gripen fighters to Ukraine to avoid complications in operating and maintaining several models of aircraft simultaneously. This was stated by Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson in a comment to the magazine 'Militarnyi'.
Complications with operation
Gripen fighters may create difficulties for Ukrainian aviation, as the presence of three types of combat aircraft – F-16, Mirage, and Gripen – will complicate the work of Ukrainian pilots.
'Introducing three types of combat aircraft simultaneously would be immediately complicated', the minister emphasized during a briefing at NATO.
Recommendations for Ukraine
Despite expectations of receiving new Gripen fighters, the aviation coalition advises postponing this decision for now and focusing on the implementation of already available UAV aircraft. Ukraine has shown interest in acquiring Gripen, but no specific timelines or aircraft models have been mentioned yet. This issue remains open.
Therefore, Ukraine continues to await the supply of Gripen fighters, but the key is to avoid complications associated with the simultaneous operation of different types of aircraft. Thus, a strategic approach requires careful planning to ensure the effectiveness of combat operations.
