Berwick-upon-Tweed - the happiest place to live in Great Britain

According to The Sun: Located on the Northumberland coast is one of the happiest towns in Great Britain - the town of Berwick-upon-Tweed.

This is not coincidental: the picturesque northern town has access to some of the country's most beautiful beaches.

Berwick-upon-Tweed took first place in a survey conducted by The Guardian that evaluated factors affecting residents' happiness.

Commute time to the countryside, access to the sea and lakes, internet speed—all of these were taken into account to determine the happiest place to live.

Berwick-upon-Tweed ranked first, followed by Evesham and Caernarfon.

“The Guardian” called Berwick “a compelling diamond” and added, “people who know it love this place - it's a wonderful place to live with a strong sense of community.”

Among the recommended places to visit are Riverside Café and Amran's Indian Kitchen & Grill.

The town is also home to The Maltings—a cinema and venue for live music and theatrical performances.

The nature and history of Berwick

Berwick-upon-Tweed is a town with stunning beaches and easy access to Northumberland's Northern Way, where you can explore the coast and the castles of Bamburgh, Dunstanburgh, and Warkworth.

This town is not only happy but also has a rich historical background. Berwick was once an important trading town and even the capital of the Scottish kingdom.

During the Middle Ages, Berwick was known as “The Great Trading Town of the North” before repeatedly changing its borders and eventually becoming part of England in 1482.

This year, Airbnb reported on popular beach destinations around the world, and the Northumberland coast made the list. This place is gaining more popularity as requests for visits increased by over 50 percent this summer.

One of the most popular beaches and villages is Bamburgh, just half an hour's drive from Berwick-upon-Tweed.
