Only one wish. Saakashvili addressed Ukrainians.
Former President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, who is imprisoned, congratulated Ukrainians on Christmas in his post on Facebook. He expressed hope that the common dream of all Ukrainians would come true with the help of Christmas magic. Saakashvili also noted that the Ukrainian people are very strong and deserve an unforgettable future that will come soon. In his post, he added a symbolic picture of Christmas reindeer throwing shells at the Kremlin.
Recall that Saakashvili wrote a letter to the mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovy, in which he congratulated him on Christmas and his birthday, as well as expressed his longing for Ukraine. He noted that Ukraine has become his second homeland. Saakashvili also returned to Georgia, but he was detained for illegal border crossing. Saakashvili considers his detention illegal and the charges fabricated. He is currently in a private clinic due to a deterioration in his health condition.
Criminal cases and trial
Under the rule of the "Georgian Dream", four criminal cases have been initiated against Saakashvili, for two of which he was sentenced to imprisonment. An investigation into his detention and other criminal cases is ongoing in Georgia. Recently, the European Court of Human Rights rejected Saakashvili's complaint regarding the fairness of the proceedings against him.
