The opposition parties in the city assembly (parliament) of Novi Sad submitted a request for an extraordinary session just over two weeks ago, explaining that Mayor Milan Djurić and his predecessor, the current Prime Minister of Serbia, Miloš Vučević, should 'feel moral responsibility and resign' following the death of 15 people due to the roof collapse at the station at the beginning of November.

The session of the Novi Sad assembly, where Djurić's resignation was discussed, was marked by incidents. The opposition urged citizens to come to the city hall building at 11:52 and express their dissatisfaction with a 15-minute noise regarding the tragedy at the station.

The vote on the mayor's resignation took place, but Djurić remains the mayor.
