Understanding the Right to Deferment from Mobilization in Ukraine

According to Novyny.live: In Ukraine, men are legally entitled to deferment from mobilization, yet many neglect to complete the required paperwork, resulting in financial penalties. This issue has gained urgency as authorities enforce stricter compliance with military registration rules, emphasizing the need for timely document processing to secure deferment.

Nataliia Kotskovych, a communications officer with the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support, explained that violations of military registration regulations can lead to administrative liability. For individuals, fines range from 17,000 to 25,000 hryvnia, while officials face penalties between 34,000 and 59,500 hryvnia.

'There are people who live with fines. The fines hang over them; they see them in the Reserve+ app and do nothing about it. They can be paid off by registering for military service and completing the documents,' - Nataliia Kotskovych

It is important to note that the law allows for a 50% reduction on the fine if paid within ten days of the ruling, offering a significant financial relief for those seeking to avoid the full penalty.

The Importance of Timely Document Submission

Therefore, promptly formalizing deferment documents is crucial not only to avoid fines but also to comply with Ukrainian law. Specialists are available to assist anyone needing guidance and support in this process. This highlights the importance of citizens being aware of their rights and obligations regarding military registration, which can greatly reduce the risk of financial losses and administrative sanctions.
