Faulty Gas Equipment Claims Mother and Daughter in Yahotyn Tragedy.
Gas Leak Suspected in Fatal Yahotyn Incident
According to TSN.ua: The bodies of a 60-year-old woman and her 16-year-old daughter were discovered in a private home in Yahotyn, Kyiv Oblast. Authorities believe carbon monoxide poisoning from a technical fault in gas equipment caused their deaths. This incident follows a separate fire that broke out in Kyiv on February 21, highlighting ongoing safety concerns. Carbon monoxide is a colorless, odorless gas that can be lethal without proper detector alarms.

A fire erupted in the private residence on Kozatska Street around 09:52. Firefighters, while extinguishing the blaze, found the two victims. The fire, which covered approximately 150 square meters, was fully extinguished by 11:35. Investigators suspect a gas leak from faulty equipment likely led to the poisoning before or during the fire.
The tragedy has alarmed local residents, underscoring the critical importance of gas appliance safety and adherence to operational guidelines in homes. It serves as a stark reminder of the potential dangers of household gas use, especially when equipment is not properly maintained.
- Homeowners must prioritize the technical condition of their gas installations.
