US President Donald Trump stated that Vladimir Putin wants to meet with him. The meeting is already being prepared, Trump said during a speech before Republican governors in Florida.
'He wants to meet, and we are organizing it. President Xi, we have communicated a lot. And we have many meetings scheduled with many people. Some have already arrived,' he said.
Trump did not name any timelines for a meeting with Putin and other representatives of countries, but noted that he would wait until January 20, the date of his inauguration.
He was also asked in what format the meeting would take place - a summit or whether the leaders would come to the US. In response to this question, Trump pointed to the ongoing war in Ukraine and gave an ambiguous answer.
'It still needs to be determined. President Putin wants to meet. He has talked about it even publicly, and we need to end this war. It’s a bloody mess,' Trump summarized.
