U.S. President Donald Trump is planning to organize a trilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Kremlin Chief Vladimir Putin. The meeting is scheduled for Friday, August 22, Axios reports.
According to information from Axios, Trump expressed a desire to hold such a meeting during talks with Zelensky and European leaders following the U.S.-Russia summit in Alaska. During the discussions, Trump indicated his intention to hold the trilateral summit quickly, already on August 22, but Putin has not publicly confirmed this initiative.
According to sources, Putin is ready to cease hostilities in the Zaporizhia and Kherson regions provided that the Armed Forces of Ukraine withdraw from Donbas, and also to discuss issues regarding other regions. Moreover, Putin expressed a desire to discuss security guarantees for Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of China as a potential guarantor.
The meeting between Trump, Zelensky, and Putin is expected to take place in early August, and it may have a significant impact on the further developments in Ukraine and the relations between the countries. Such negotiations could determine the future of the peaceful resolution of the conflict in eastern Ukraine and the relationships between Russia, the U.S., and Ukraine.
