Zelensky on the key to peace: Ukraine will not seek alternatives to the USA.
According to ТСН: Ukraine does not intend to seek alternatives to the United States regarding the end of the war, as Washington has the greatest chances of forcing the Kremlin to make peace.
President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed this opinion during a conversation with journalists in the Office of the President's chat.
He emphasized that the end of the conflict should be a triumph of American diplomacy, not a defeat for the Western world.
On the role of the USA and Trump
Zelensky is confident that Donald Trump has the levers of influence to stop Russian aggression. It is critical for Ukraine that the US continues to play a key role in negotiations.
“This should be a strategic victory for the US, not a defeat, so Putin should be stopped. Who else can do this? Representatives from the Middle East? I believe that the US has a better chance,”
— emphasized Volodymyr Zelensky.
Why not China or Europe?
The President also analyzed the possibilities of other global players:
China: According to him, Beijing could influence the situation, but currently, Ukraine does not see China's willingness to end this war.
Europe and the 'coalition of the willing': remain at the negotiation table, but their role is auxiliary regarding US leadership.
The Middle East: has potential, but its capabilities are not comparable to the American ones.
No alternatives
The President separately noted that Ukraine relies on strategic partnership with Washington and does not plan to change course in seeking mediators.
“We should not seek alternatives to the United States,”
— he summarized, stressing that such an approach will ensure lasting peace, not a temporary pause.
It should be noted that the President of Ukraine believes that the United States is not putting enough pressure on President Putin of Russia to make him abandon his aggressive plans.
Thus, Volodymyr Zelensky emphasizes the importance of support from the USA for the formation of stable peace in Ukraine. In the current situation, the topic of conversation remains the influence of Washington on the Kremlin, as well as the likelihood of using other international players to resolve the conflict.
