Trump Offers US Oil to Russia and China: What the New Statement Means.
The Openness of the US in the Energy Sector
According to ТСН: US President Donald Trump announced his intention to open the energy market to all countries, including Russia and China. According to him, Moscow will be able to obtain the necessary volumes of oil through American channels or through Venezuela, which is controlled by the US. This is essentially an offer to move to open business instead of adhering to sanctions.
In response to a question about the future of Venezuelan oil production, Trump emphasized the importance of changing the strategic approach to global energy resource trading. He expressed the intention for the US to become open business partners with other countries.
"We are open for business. China can buy as much oil from us as it wants — there [in Venezuela] or in the US. Russia can also get as much oil from us as it needs. China, Russia, and all other countries can come and do business. We will be open," said Donald Trump.
It is also worth noting that recently the US, in cooperation with Britain, seized the Russian oil tanker 'Marinera'. White House representatives have suggested that the crew may face an American court.
Trump's statements indicate the US's desire to take a more active position in the global energy market. The official US position on opening the market aims to attract new partners and reduce the impact of sanctions. At the same time, the seizure of the 'Marinera' tanker highlights the potential conflict of interest between the US and Russia in the energy sector, which may affect future relations between the states.
