Criticism of the new EES system

According to The Sun: The authorities have urgently called for a review of the new EES system due to long queues where travelers are forced to wait up to three hours at passport control. The entry/exit system is expected to be implemented by April 10, 2026, for non-EU citizens entering the Schengen area.

“Long queues may lead to serious inconveniences for tourists and businesses,” experts stated.

There are serious concerns about the massive delays that may occur during the implementation of this system.

The new EES system project aims to improve control over entry and exit from Europe; however, delays at checkpoints may significantly affect travel. Experts are already calling for adequate changes to avoid negative consequences for tourism and business, as a comfortable trip is an important component of the region's economic stability.
