The Third Meeting of Ukraine and Russia in Turkey - Summaries from the Office of the President.
On Wednesday, July 23, a meeting between the Ukrainian delegation led by Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umierov and representatives of Russia took place in Turkey. Ukraine demands an immediate ceasefire. This was reported by the head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak.
What was discussed during the meeting
Ukraine emphasized its position regarding the ceasefire, ensuring silence along the entire front line, and preventing shelling of civilian infrastructure. The Ukrainian delegation also proposed organizing a meeting of the presidents of Ukraine, Russia, the USA, and Turkey. Special attention was paid to the issue of prisoner exchanges, the release of civilians and children.
“Moscow must demonstrate through actions its readiness to end the war. We are ready for a ceasefire right now. We see that Russia is not yet ready to stop the war, but there is still time to think and stop this madness,” Yermak emphasized.
Earlier, the head of the Russian delegation, Vladimir Medinsky, summarized the negotiations in Istanbul, noting the differences in the positions of Ukraine and Russia regarding the memoranda. He also remarked on the conditions under which Presidents Putin and Zelensky would meet, stating that such a meeting must be properly prepared.
During the meeting, the Ukrainian delegation expressed its readiness for a ceasefire and noted the necessity of preparing a meeting of the presidents of Ukraine, Russia, the USA, and Turkey. At the same time, the Russian side emphasized the importance of proper preparation for the meeting and noted the differences in positions regarding key issues of conflict resolution.
