Turkey is ready for new negotiations between Ukraine and Russia: what Istanbul will discuss

According to inkorr.com: The head of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hakan Fidan confirmed that Istanbul is ready to mediate in a new phase of negotiations between Ukraine and Moscow. He emphasized that the previous three rounds have already yielded important results, such as prisoner exchanges and the restoration of direct communication between the parties. As stated by the representative:

“We sincerely believe that diplomacy remains the only way to a peaceful resolution of the crisis in Ukraine”

Progress of negotiations in Istanbul

In May and June 2025, meetings of delegations from Ukraine and Russia took place in Istanbul. The Russian side put forward demands for the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from certain territories and even threatened the occupation of Kharkiv and Sumy regions. However, during the next negotiations on June 2, the parties concluded an agreement on a large-scale exchange of prisoners in several stages under different categories.

Turkey confirms its readiness to support negotiations between Ukraine and Russia, which have already yielded the first significant results. Istanbul can become a platform for peace discussions of the conflict and for seeking compromise between the parties.

Thus, Turkey’s participation in the negotiations can help find ways to resolve a conflict that has been ongoing for several years. Efforts aimed at establishing peace remain critically important in the current international context, where every step towards dialogue can reduce tensions and lead to stability in the region.
