The European Union continues to support Ukraine, and its victory remains a priority. This was stated by Kaja Kallas, a candidate for the position of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, during hearings in the European Parliament. She noted that the situation on the battlefield is complicated, and Ukraine needs greater financial and military support to achieve its path to EU membership.

Kallas also emphasized that supporting Ukraine helps to ensure European security and values, as well as defend the principles of the UN Charter. She drew attention to the need to resolve the conflict in the Middle East based on principles that have the support of the majority of EU member states. This includes a ceasefire, release of hostages, provision of humanitarian assistance, and seeking a diplomatic solution based on the principle of 'two states' to recognize Israel's right to exist.

Challenges for Europe

Kallas pointed out that Europe faces complex challenges. Russia continues to fight against Ukraine, and autocratic coalitions are forming around it. China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran seek to change the international order, using the openness of European society against it. Kallas called for awareness of this threat and to react together with partners, never forgetting European values for a moment.
