An Exhibition in Paris Showcases Ukraine's Cultural Heritage Under Threat.
'Treasures of Ukrainian Museums' on Display in Paris
According to UATV: An open-air exhibition titled 'Treasures of Ukrainian Museums' is currently being held in France, organized by the Embassy of Ukraine. The display is situated in the square in front of Paris City Hall, aiming to draw international attention to Ukraine's rich cultural legacy. Ukraine is home to approximately 5,000 museums, which form a vital part of the nation's identity and history.
By the end of 2025, 133 museums and galleries had been destroyed or severely damaged due to military actions. This alarming situation is compounded by the theft of over 480,000 art objects. Notably, Russian forces systematically looted cultural artifacts from the A. Shovkunenko Kherson Regional Art Gallery.
'At a time when Russia continues to destroy Ukraine's cultural heritage, such projects take on special significance.' - Embassy of Ukraine in France
The exhibition not only showcases the wealth of Ukrainian culture but also underscores the critical importance of its preservation during this period of conflict. This cultural diplomacy initiative highlights the ongoing struggle to protect national heritage from wartime destruction and looting.
The Exhibition's Significance
'Treasures of Ukrainian Museums' represents a crucial effort to preserve and promote Ukrainian cultural heritage, especially amidst military conflicts that threaten its very existence. International support for Ukrainian culture aids not only in safeguarding historical monuments but also in shaping a positive global image for Ukraine during a time of national crisis.
