December 2025: Ukraine dealt the maximum damage to Russian energy sector during the war

According to ТСН: In December 2025, Ukraine significantly intensified its strikes on Russian energy infrastructure, inflicting substantial damage on Russian assets since the start of the war.

Major attacks on energy facilities

According to Bloomberg, at least 24 attacks were recorded this month on Russian oil refineries, tankers, maritime facilities, and vital pipeline systems.

Impact on Russian exports

The publication emphasizes that these strikes increase pressure on Russian exports, which are already facing restrictions due to sanctions. While oil supply volumes remain stable, the flow of 'oil dollars' is decreasing. As a result, revenues from oil and gas in 2025 may drop to 23% of budget revenues — a record low level.

Attacks on maritime infrastructure

In particular, Ukraine has intensified strikes on maritime infrastructure, including repeated attacks on oil and gas fields of PJSC 'Lukoil' in the Caspian Sea.

Throughout this month, Kyiv also struck Black Sea ports of Taman and Rostov, leading to the burning of several tankers, and an attack on the Russian shadow fleet is ongoing.

Confirmed attacks on oil refineries

Earlier, it was reported that the General Staff confirmed large-scale attacks on the Syzran and Volgograd oil refineries.

In addition, on December 18, the Armed Forces of Ukraine attacked the oil tanker 'Valeriy Gorchakov' in Rostov-on-Don.

These events indicate Ukraine's heightened efforts in countering Russian aggression, especially in the energy sector. The growing pressure on the Russian economy forces Moscow to seek new ways to overcome sanctions, but strikes on key infrastructure objects can significantly impact their capabilities in this area.
