Russian soldiers received orders to execute prisoners: intercepted by GUR.
The Ukrainian military intelligence has published a new interception of radio communications from Russian soldiers. These recordings reveal a deliberate policy of executing captured Ukrainian servicemen.
Occupiers execute captured Ukrainians
In a recording made in the Novopavlivka direction, the commander of a Russian army unit openly orders to kill those who surrender:
'Let them scream to surrender… let them surrender, do you understand me? If they take one prisoner, the others, if they surrender — eliminate them.'
The GUR emphasizes that this order is a direct violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, which guarantee the protection of prisoners of war.
'For every crime committed against the Ukrainian people, there will be just retribution', the message added.
Earlier, Russian occupiers shot an unarmed captive soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donetsk region.
We remind you that the GUR previously reported over 150 cases of executions of captured Ukrainian defenders committed by Russians. These crimes are a deliberate policy by the leadership of the aggressor country.
Each new case of executing captured Ukrainian servicemen only confirms the brutality and ruthlessness of the occupiers, who violate international humanitarian law and the norms of the Geneva Conventions. This situation indicates the need to involve the international community to stop human rights abuses in the occupied territories of Ukraine.
