Maria Volochanska, a legendary doctor and OUN participant, passed away in Kalush at the age of 101.
According to inkorr.com: In the city of Kalush, Maria Vasyliwna Volochanska passed away at the age of 101 - a well-known doctor, public activist, and participant in the national liberation movement. The news of her death was reported by the Kalush City Council, writes 'Glavkom'.
Maria Volochanska was born on May 30, 1925, in the village of Sivka-Voynilivska. In her youth, she joined the OUN and completed nurse courses, after which she was assigned to the 'Beia' company.
In 1951, Maria Vasyliwna graduated from the Stanislav State Medical Institute and began working in the medical field. After 1953, she worked at the Kalush District Hospital, where from 1957 until her retirement, she headed the infectious diseases department.
Volochanska was also a founder of the Kalush City District Organization 'Union of Ukrainian Women' and was actively involved in public life and the struggle for Ukrainian independence. She is considered a participant in the UPA combat operations.
Together with her husband Myroslav Volochansky, Maria raised two children.
The Life of Lidiya Tykhovliz
It is noted that in the Old Sambir in Lviv region, the well-known prisoner of Soviet camps and OUN liaison Lidiya Tykhovliz passed away at the age of 97. This was reported by 'Glavkom' referring to the project 'Local History'.
Lidiya Tykhovliz was born on December 15, 1928, into a conscious national family of Maria and Mykola Dzulyński. While studying at the Lviv Conservatory, she joined the youth network of the OUN and served as a liaison. On February 26, 1946, she was arrested by the NKVD. She spent six months in prison 'on Lontskoho'. Later she was sentenced to ten years of imprisonment and five years of deprivation of rights.
Maria Volochanska and Lidiya Tykhovliz were outstanding figures of their time who made a significant contribution to the struggle for Ukrainian statehood and freedom. Their life paths and participation in events reflect the complex history of Ukraine in the 20th century. Both will be remembered as true heroes who dedicated their lives to the fight for the future of their country.
