Residents of destroyed buildings in Kyiv have been living without gas for 2 years: why are they not being connected.
In Kyiv, residential buildings that were damaged by shelling from Russia have been without gas supply for almost two years. Gas services refuse to connect the houses to gas until a complete inspection of all apartments is carried out.
The situation with gas supply in shelled houses
Hennadiy Kryvosheya, head of the Public Council at the Kyiv City State Administration, reported that gas has still not been supplied in the Shevchenkivskyi district of Kyiv after the shelling, and the same problem may exist in other areas of the city. The main reason for this is the strict security policy followed by 'Kyivgas'.
'If the gas worker cannot inspect a specific apartment due to the absence of residents, the entire building will remain without gas. This could lead to a gas leak threat, which poses a serious danger, even greater than a missile strike', Kryvosheya explained.
According to him, residents are advised to use electric appliances since even after the restoration of the buildings, there is no possibility to supply gas without inspecting each dwelling.
It should be noted that the issue of restoring the destroyed buildings after the attack on July 31 has not been resolved in Kyiv. Local residents are outraged by the inaction of the authorities.
It is worth mentioning that as a result of the massive attack by Russian troops on Kyiv on July 31, 2025, 32 people were killed.
