President Volodymyr Zelensky, present at the ceremony, announced plans to introduce a bill on the Ukrainian National Pantheon to parliament and to begin preparations for the Lavra's millennium, set to occur in 25 years.

Speaking at the unveiling, Volodymyr Zelensky stated:

'Today we are correcting another historical injustice, and from now on, here at the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra, a bust of the great Ukrainian and patron of the Lavra, Ivan Mazepa, will rightfully stand.' Volodymyr Zelensky
