Legendary Lviv TV presenter Petro Ostapyshyn passed away: his voice was known to millions.
According to ТСН: Legendary Lviv regional state television presenter, true icon of regional TV Petro Ostapyshyn, passed away at the age of 78.
His death was reported by colleague and director of the Lviv State Palace of Aesthetic Education for Student Youth Oleg Klymovych, who shared memorable words about Ostapyshyn.
“Petro Ostapyshyn will remain in our memory as a person of high culture, fine artistic taste, true intelligence, and decency. He was the voice of an era and the face of Lviv’s television tradition, which he created with love and dignity,” Klymovych wrote.
For decades, Petro Ostapyshyn was one of the most recognizable TV presenters in Lviv. Viewers knew him well thanks to the programs “Concert of Greetings” and “Coffee in Lviv Style.” The “Concert of Greetings,” which he hosted for 38 years, held a particularly important place in his career, becoming the voice of celebration and kind words for many viewers.
Colleagues' Reactions
Colleagues from other regions also reacted to the presenter’s death. Sumy broadcaster and journalist Viktoriya Sokolovska recalled Ostapyshyn on Facebook as a person whom viewers sincerely loved and eagerly awaited on their screens:
“He was called the face of Lviv television. He was bright, creative, extraordinary. We had known each other for 43 years. A caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather. He lived a rich and beautiful life,” wrote the journalist.
Words of condolence were also expressed by Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, who called Ostapyshyn a man of an era who managed to unite viewers from all over the region around their screens.
After His Television Career
After finishing his work in television in 2018, Petro Ostapyshyn passed on his experience to the youth by teaching at the Lviv branch of the National University of Culture and Arts.
At this moment, information about the date and place of farewell to the presenter has not been disclosed, and the cause of his death is also unknown.
Petro Ostapyshyn left a bright mark in the world of Ukrainian television. His recognizable style and sincerity led generations of viewers. Memories of him will undoubtedly remain in the hearts of many, and his contribution to the development of regional television will be forever remembered.
