In Germany, the court sentenced the killers of Ukrainian basketball players.
The court in the city of Essen sentenced four minors who were accused of murdering two Ukrainian basketball players. One of them received a sentence of 8.5 years in prison, while the other two were sentenced to 10 years. The court took into account their age, which ranged from 14 to 16 years at the time of the crime. It is assumed that they killed the Ukrainians with ill intentions, but without racist motivation. It is noted that the young killers understood that there was no reason needed for murder. Details about the names of the participants in this horrific story are little known, as the case was considered in closed court.
Recall that two Ukrainian basketball players were attacked in February of this year on a bus heading to the central station. After exiting the bus, the young men were surrounded by unknown individuals and beaten. The assailants then inflicted several stab wounds. One of the athletes died in the hospital shortly after the injuries, while the other died a week later.
The slain basketball player Volodymyr Yermakov played in youth teams and participated in the European Championship. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine has been closely studying this case and expressed particular interest in conducting an investigation.
Two other individuals, in addition to the Ukrainian basketball players, were injured, and there are known to be two suspects in this case.
