Romania approves training program for Ukrainian F-16 crews.


The Romanian government has approved the procedure and conditions for training Ukrainian personnel who will operate and maintain F-16 fighter jets.
"By emergency ordinance and in fulfillment of the commitment made by Romania at the NATO summit in Vilnius and subsequently confirmed by the Supreme Council of National Defense, the government approved the legal procedures and conditions for training Ukrainian personnel who will manage F-16 aircraft, which will take place at the 86th Fetesti Air Base," Romanian government spokesperson Mihai Constantin said, as reported by Espreso citing Digi24.
According to him, this way Romania contributes to providing Ukrainians with the necessary knowledge for the operation, maintenance, and repair of F-16 fighter jets, in line with the commitments made in the Joint Declaration signed on the margins of the NATO summit in Vilnius by the defense ministers of Romania, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Great Britain, and the Netherlands.
"In the context of the ongoing war near Romania's borders, providing this support is an investment in national and allied security and could also become a signal of the cohesion of the European Union, NATO, and partner states," he added.
