Spiegel revealed whether the German CDU plans to support Ukraine.

The CDU will support Ukraine and strengthen sanctions against Russia
The German Christian Democratic Union (CDU) has included support for Ukraine and the expansion of sanctions against Russia in its election program. This was reported by the publication 'Hvylya', citing Spiegel.
In the section of the program on foreign and security policy, the CDU states that it will continue to support Ukraine through diplomatic, financial, and humanitarian instruments, as well as providing military assistance.
Furthermore, the party plans to continue pushing for the expansion of sanctions against Russia.
In its program, the CDU also establishes the minimum acceptable defense spending level at 2% of GDP, which is already a NATO standard. However, they do not propose to raise this figure.
Additionally, the party proposes to establish mandatory annual service in socially important jobs and to increase the volume of conscription into the army.
Earlier, Chancellor Angela Merkel's main opponent, Martin Schulz, expressed a desire to conduct new negotiations with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
