In the United States, one person died and ten more were poisoned after they ate at fast food restaurants McDonald's. This is reported by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The cause of the infection was E. coli.
Cases of poisoning were registered in ten US states, the number is 49. The strain E. coli O157:H7 caused the outbreak of this disease.
«As of October 22, 10 states have reported 49 cases of infection with the strain E. coli O157:H7, which caused the outbreak», reported the CDC.
The poisoning occurred because of food from McDonald's, and, according to preliminary data, the cause could have been onions that contained E. coli. The first cases of poisoning were recorded on September 27, according to CDC information.
Official information states that at present only 28 people are infected, but one person from Colorado died from hemolytic-uremic syndrome. This disease is characterized by the formation of blood clots in small vessels, which block the supply of blood to vital organs, particularly the kidneys. The CDC notes that the number of cases may be larger than registered.
Previously, during the election campaign, the US presidential candidate from the Republicans, Donald Trump, visited one of the McDonald's in Pennsylvania. There he prepared french fries and distributed them to visitors.
