Cash Aid for Displaced Persons Resumes in Sumy: Up to 12,300 UAH Available.
Financial Assistance Program for Internally Displaced Persons and Refugees
According to Novyny.live: Starting in June 2026, the city of Sumy, Ukraine, has launched a cash assistance initiative for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees, run by the charity foundation 'Right to Protection.' Payments under this program range from 10,800 to 12,300 Ukrainian hryvnias. This effort aims to support those uprooted by ongoing conflict in the region.
Applications for this aid are now being accepted again in Sumy. Several groups of people are eligible for the financial support. These include:
- Households that have relocated from dangerous areas within the past 45 days;
- Families who moved between 46 days and six months ago;
- Individuals who returned from abroad after February 24, 2022.
It is important to note that for the last three categories, the average monthly income per person must not exceed 8,300 hryvnias.
Applications for the cash aid are submitted electronically. The final decision on granting assistance is made after a personal interview. This process allows program organizers to more thoroughly assess each applicant's needs and ensure the targeted use of allocated funds.
Aid Amounts Vary by Category
Furthermore, the amount of assistance differs depending on the applicant's category. Specifically:
- 12,300 hryvnias are given to displaced people who moved from hazardous areas in the last 45 days;
- The same sum is available for internally displaced persons who left their homes due to life threats between 46 days and six months ago;
- Refugees who arrived within the last three months but no more than a year ago are entitled to 10,800 hryvnias;
- Also, 12,300 hryvnias are provided to families affected by shelling in the previous 45 days.
This program represents a crucial step in supporting people facing difficult circumstances due to the ongoing military actions and conflicts in Ukraine.
The introduction of this cash assistance program in Sumy is a vital component of the social support system in a country affected by prolonged military conflicts. It will help ease the burden for many who have left their homes due to threats and violence. Authorities and charitable organizations aim to provide proper support for those who need it most, highlighting the importance of both international and local solidarity during challenging times.
