The State Department denied reports that the United States intends to end funding for NATO. According to State Department spokesperson Tammi Bruce, no plan can be finalized until the full federal budget is submitted to Congress.
The Budget Office's proposal includes cuts to funding for the State Department and the U.S. Agency for International Development, as well as reductions in contributions to many international organizations. However, Bruce stated that the idea of the U.S. stopping NATO funding is unfounded.
The proposed budget also includes reductions in aid to other countries but increases funding for 'America First Opportunity Fund'. The final budget proposal will be submitted to Congress in the coming weeks.
