Barry Manilow announced lung cancer: tumor found accidentally at an early stage.
According to ТСН: Famous American pop artist Barry Manilow announced his diagnosis - lung cancer.
The singer shared this news on his Instagram, noting that the cancer was discovered accidentally, but fortunately at an early stage. Barry Manilow had previously suffered from bronchitis, and when he recovered, his doctor ordered an MRI to clarify his health condition. During the examination, a tumor was found in his left lung.
“Recently I went through six weeks of bronchitis, and then another five weeks of recurrence. Although I have overcome bronchitis and returned to the stage, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI to make sure everything was fine. The MRI revealed a cancerous area in my left lung that needs to be removed. It's pure luck that it was discovered so early,” the artist shared.
Barry is starting treatment, but they do not plan to use chemotherapy or radiation therapy. The operation to remove the tumor will be the next step, after which the artist will go through rehabilitation that will last approximately a month. As a result, he is forced to cancel concerts scheduled for January and postpone them to February.
“The bad news is that now I have to have surgery to remove the tumor. Doctors do not believe it has spread, and I'm undergoing tests to confirm their diagnosis. So that's it. No chemotherapy. No radiation therapy. The only follow-up is a month of recovery, which means we will have to postpone the January concerts,” the artist shared.
Barry Manilow is known as an American pop singer; among his most famous songs are I Write The Songs, Looks Like We Made It, Copacabana, and I Made It Through The Rain.
It's also worth mentioning that recently Ukrainian poet and composer Yevhen Ryanych announced his serious diagnosis, which forced him to undergo two surgeries.
This news about Barry Manilow has caused a wide resonance among fans and colleagues on stage. Treatment at an early stage of the disease gives hope for a positive outcome, and the support of fans and the community can play an important role in his recovery.
