In Georgia's social media, participants of the protests received threatening phone calls. This information was reported by the website 'Echo of the Caucasus'.
One of the organizers of the protests in Tbilisi, Ilya Glonti, stated that he received calls with threats, where unknown individuals threatened to break his bones.
A member of the opposition 'Coalition for Change', Vano Gomurashvili, also reported threats he received during a call, where he was insulted and promised to be beaten.
A journalist from the 'Mtavari' TV channel, Eke Kvesitadze, spoke about numerous calls from unknown numbers, which she decided not to answer.
Attacks on activists and journalists
Unknown individuals in masks attacked employees of the 'TV Pirveli' channel, opposition member Duta Petriadze, actor Georgi Makharadze, and at the office of the 'Akhali' party. The attack on the filming crew was broadcast live, where the operator was beaten, and journalist Maka Chikhladze was physically assaulted.
Recently, law enforcement agencies of Georgia conducted searches in the offices of opposition parties. The police detained the founder of the 'Mtavari' television company and the opposition party 'Akhali', as well as activist Gela Khasaya.
In the center of Tbilisi, the protests are hindering the completion of the installation of the Christmas tree near the parliament on Rustaveli Avenue.
Refusal to negotiate with the EU
Georgia refuses to negotiate on joining the EU until 2028. This information was emphasized by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, adding that the country wants to join the EU with a stable economy and a democratic system. This news has become a reason for the escalation of protests.
