Sybiga called for new sanctions against the Russian Federation after the massive attack.
According to ТСН: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga urged international partners to take urgent measures to increase pressure on Russia following a recent large-scale attack on Ukraine.
He announced this on social media, emphasizing that the nighttime attack underscored Russia's disregard for peace initiatives, which requires 'decisive action'.
'New rounds of tough sanctions to deprive Russia of the resources for terror and war. New packages of defense assistance to Ukraine to better protect our people and repel the invaders. New steps to ensure accountability for Russian crimes,' wrote the minister.
Sybiga also called for public condemnation of Russia's actions.
‘Such a strike near the borders of the EU and NATO is a serious threat to security on the European continent and a test for the transatlantic community. We demand a decisive response to Russia's reckless actions. We will initiate international actions - an urgent meeting of the UN Security Council, a meeting of the Ukraine-NATO Council, as well as a response within the EU, the Council of Europe, and the OSCE,' added Sybiga.
It was also noted that the Russian troops confirmed their massive strike on Ukraine, including the ballistic missile 'Oreshnik', as a response to 'Kyiv's attack on Putin's residence'.
It was reported that the ballistic missile that hit Lviv was traveling at 13,000 km/h, striking critical infrastructure in the city.
On the night of Friday, the Russian army attacked critical infrastructure facilities in Ukraine using strike drones and sea and land-based missiles. The main strike was aimed at Kyiv region and the Air Forces confirmed that the RF launched 'Oreshnik' towards Lviv region.
This attack was yet another testament to Russia's aggressive actions, which pose a threat not only to Ukraine but to security in Europe as a whole. Urgent calls are being made by Ukrainian authorities for a swift response from the international community, which may lead to new measures against the aggressor within international organizations and alliances. Amid increasing tensions, it is essential to maintain solidarity and readiness to actively respond to new security challenges in the region.
