Strike on Moscow Space Communications Hub: Expert Identifies Lawful Target for Ukrainian Forces.
Valerii Borovyk Weighs In on the Attack on the 'Dubna' Space Communications Center
According to Espreso.tv: Valerii Borovyk, founder of the company 'First Contact', has shared his assessment regarding the legality of the strike on the 'Dubna' space communications center in Moscow, highlighting its critical role in Russia's military operations against Ukraine. This facility, located in Moscow, is responsible for maintaining satellite communications, as well as receiving and transmitting data.
The attack on 'Dubna' occurred on June 21-22, with a follow-up strike on June 30. Borovyk, a combat veteran, noted that 'this facility supports the Russian satellite network used to wage war against Ukraine.' He also emphasized the strategic importance of hitting such targets, stating that 'striking several of these centers could produce a strategic effect.'
Strategic Implications of Targeting Military Assets
According to Borovyk, the 'Dubna' center represents 'a normal, lawful, high-value target that is difficult to restore.' He stressed that taking out five to ten similar facilities could significantly degrade Russia's capabilities. It was also noted that 'Dubna' is not the only such facility in the Russian Federation. Consequently, strikes on strategic military assets like 'Dubna' could substantially alter the course of military operations.
These attacks underscore a shift in warfare tactics, focusing on destroying critically important military infrastructure. This approach could reduce the effectiveness of Russian military operations in Ukraine, as control over space-based communications is a vital component of modern warfare. As a result, such actions may become part of a broader strategy aimed at weakening the enemy's military potential.
