Drone Strike on Moscow Oil Refinery Destroys 140,000 Barrel Per Day Processing Unit.
Attack on the Moscow Oil Refinery
According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian drones struck the Moscow Oil Refinery in the Kapotnya district during the night of June 18. The assault caused extensive damage to the facility and triggered a large fire with at least five separate ignition points.
The attack destroyed crude oil storage tanks and severely damaged the AVT-6 primary oil refining unit along with other process equipment. With a daily capacity of approximately 140,000 barrels of crude oil, the AVT-6 unit is a critical component of Russia's refining infrastructure. The strike also hit pipelines, auxiliary systems, and additional petroleum product storage tanks.
Fuel Market Fallout
In addition, the nearby shopping center 'Sadovod' was also affected by the attack. This incident has already disrupted Russia's fuel market: out of 29,000 gas stations across the country, 7,000 have imposed limits on fuel sales. Given the scale of damage at the refinery, the fuel market is expected to face even greater strain in the near future.
This strike on the Moscow Oil Refinery marks a significant development in the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia, highlighting the vulnerability of critical enemy infrastructure. Disabling key oil processing facilities could severely impact Russia's energy security and lead to economic repercussions in fuel supply. The fuel market situation is likely to remain tense, as sales restrictions may drive up prices and cause shortages at gas stations.
