Ukraine’s Defense Forces Hit Russian Rear: Strike Targets Steel Plant in Luhansk and Training Ground in Zaporizhzhia.
Strikes by Ukraine’s Defense Forces
According to UATV: On the night of March 20, Ukraine’s Defense Forces launched attacks on key Russian military assets. Among the targets was the Alchevsk Metallurgical Plant in the Luhansk region, a facility that produces artillery shell casings and armored steel. Additionally, infrastructure at the 'Vostochny' training ground in the Zaporizhzhia region was damaged.
This operation is part of an ongoing campaign by Ukraine’s Defense Forces aimed at dismantling Russia’s military-industrial complex. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also confirmed damage to the 123rd Aircraft Repair Plant in Staraya Russa, Russia, which occurred on March 17, 2026. That incident resulted in damage to an A-50 aircraft undergoing repairs at the facility.
Continued Actions by Ukraine’s Defense Forces
Ukraine’s Defense Forces will persist in striking Russian military targets to degrade their capabilities in the conflict.
These attacks highlight an intensification of Ukrainian military operations focused on destroying critical infrastructure that supports Russia’s war effort. Facilities like the Alchevsk steel plant are vital for supplying materials used in weapons production, making them strategic targets. Sustained operations of this kind could shift the regional balance of power and influence the conflict’s trajectory.
