Shelling of American Business in Ukraine: What the RF Attack Means for Negotiations.
Ukraine is experiencing the shelling of the American company Flex in Mukachevo, which has become a troubling signal for both Ukraine and the USA. Political scientist Oleg Lisny considers that if President Trump supports flexibility towards Russia, it could serve as an incentive for further aggressive actions by the Kremlin on the territory of Ukraine.
'It would be nice to have a tough reaction since Trump understands perfectly well what business is and has repeatedly said that this is one of the guarantees of security. But we know that Trump has quite flexible positions regarding Russia, and they don't always please us. Therefore, I can assume that for Trump, Ukraine and Russia are currently in a negotiation process, and he might actually turn a blind eye even to the fact that the RF is attacking American businesses. Because he has shown that notorious flexibility, which I mentioned earlier, for important reasons or problematic moments,' he emphasized.
The political scientist believes that the Kremlin's actions aimed at damaging American businesses in Ukraine indicate Putin's indifference to any agreements and verbal promises given to the US president.
'Putin is demonstrating in the current situation that he doesn't care about any agreements, about his words given to the President of the United States. I remind you that Putin, in a phone mode after the Washington meeting of the President of Ukraine and European partners, agreed to meet with Zelensky. Now Lavrov appears and begins to sing that we are ready, but... and at this time American businesses in Ukraine are being shelled. Is this not inattentive and again dragging out time,' noted Oleg Lisny.
According to the political scientist, Ukraine must act decisively and not allow such provocations, even if President Trump does not pay attention to them. The analyst called for sanctions to punish Russia and prevent further violations on the territory of Ukraine.
It is worth noting that neither the president nor the Prime Minister of Hungary condemned the shelling of the American company in Mukachevo, committed by Russia, which indicates a complex situation in the region and a potential threat to security and stability.
