Ukraine is ready to purchase military aid from the US: Zelensky named the amount.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine is ready to purchase the next tranche of military aid from the US while awaiting a response from the White House regarding future military support.
Ukraine has requested assistance from the United States worth between 30 to 50 billion dollars and is ready to pay for it, Zelensky told reporters in Kyiv on Wednesday.
'We did not ask for the next package for free,' said Zelensky.
US President Donald Trump insists on concluding a deal on the distribution of profits from Ukrainian natural resources and sees it as compensation for the aid provided to Ukraine after the Russian invasion. Zelensky emphasized that Kyiv seeks more investment from the US in exchange for any agreement and explained that this could complicate the application for EU membership.
Ukraine does not want to recognize past US assistance as debt but seeks better conditions in the future mineral resources agreement.
Zelensky stated that Ukraine is still receiving military aid approved by Biden but did not specify when the remaining assistance would be received.
