Ukraine can block the launch of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant by Russia: what is planned.
Expert comments on the launch of the Zaporizhzhia NPP
According to inkorr.com: Expert Volodymyr Omelyanchenko believes that Ukraine has every legal reason to prevent the launch of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, which belongs to Russia, using both legal and physical methods. He emphasized that the launch of the Russian plant under the supervision of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) would be a violation of international law. Even if representatives from the USA join this process, it will not prevent Ukraine from protecting its interests, including the possibility of sabotaging power transmission lines.
The expert also noted that the Russian side has already taken certain infrastructural measures on the territory, but Ukraine is prepared to take necessary actions to protect its interests and security in response to any attempts of illegal launch of the nuclear power plant by Russia.
The Zaporizhzhia NPP, which is currently controlled by Russian troops, remains a hotspot of tension between Ukraine and Russia. Expert assessments underline the importance of international attention to this issue, as the safety of nuclear facilities is critical for the entire region. Events around the NPP may significantly impact the energy situation in Ukraine and its relations with international partners.
