According to Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha, Ukraine is expecting the start of negotiations on the first two chapters regarding EU membership. He also hopes for the approval of the 15th sanctions package during Poland's presidency in the European Union in 2025.
'We expect the rapid opening of the first and second clusters (basic provisions and internal market) at the beginning of Poland's presidency,' Sybiha said during a joint press conference in Warsaw on Tuesday with Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski, as reported by Ukrinform.
The Minister also expressed Ukraine's hopes regarding the approval of the 15th sanctions package against Russia during Poland's presidency in the EU Council. He noted that it is unacceptable for Ukraine when EU countries continue to issue Schengen visas to Russian citizens.
'Russian citizens pose a threat to the security of EU countries and we are convinced that it is time to limit the issuance of visas to Russian citizens,' Sybiha stressed.
