Norway, Sweden, and Denmark have joined in financing military aid for Ukraine within the framework of a new American initiative approved by NATO (Prioritised Ukraine Requirement List). Norway plans to make an initial contribution of 1.5 billion Norwegian kroner to support this initiative.

This was reported by the Ministries of Defense of Denmark and Norway.

The Scandinavian countries invest in US weapon supplies

'This is an important initiative of NATO and the USA. It facilitates the quick acquisition of vital military equipment for self-defense by Ukrainians and strengthens cooperation between the USA and European countries in Ukraine's defense efforts', said Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre.

The initiative will ensure the rapid supply of American weapons and equipment to Ukraine. It will bolster Ukraine's air defense, including additional missiles for the Patriot missile defense system.

'With this contribution, we want to facilitate the rapid provision of necessary equipment to Ukraine while strengthening NATO cooperation on Ukraine's defense and ensuring peace on Ukraine's terms', emphasized Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik.

Ukraine's reaction to military aid

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky reported on a new significant step within the framework of the initiative for the procurement of American weapons. It is noted that the implementation of this decision will take place under NATO coordination within the framework of the prioritised needs list for Ukraine (Prioritised Ukraine Requirement List). The President thanked the Prime Ministers of Sweden, Norway, and Denmark, as well as the NATO Secretary General for their support.

According to Zelensky, this initiative will significantly enhance the protection of Ukrainian lives and serve as a strong signal to other NATO countries. It demonstrates the unity of America and Europe on security matters and guarantees protection from Russian aggressive actions.

Norway, Sweden, and Denmark are involved in financing military aid for Ukraine and will invest in the procurement of American military equipment. This initiative, supported by NATO and the USA, is aimed at increasing Ukraine's defense capability and supporting security in the region.
