Ukraine Receives $690 Million IMF Second Installment: Where the Funds Are Headed.
Second IMF Tranche Secured
According to Мінфін — Крипто/Фінанси: A second disbursement of roughly $690 million has been delivered to Ukraine from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under a new four-year initiative. The funds entered the state budget in 2026 and are designated to bolster macroeconomic and financial stability across the country. Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky confirmed the receipt, stating that
“the money has already been transferred to the state budget and will be used to support macro-financial stability.”
Program Review and Expanded Funding
In addition, the IMF’s Executive Board has approved the first review of Ukraine’s Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program. As a result, total financing under this arrangement is set to increase to approximately $2.2 billion. Originally approved in 2023, the four-year EFF program aims to sustain economic stability and development in Ukraine amid ongoing challenges.
This latest IMF installment marks a critical milestone for Ukraine as it works to maintain financial stability during a period of economic and social strain. The funds, dedicated to macro-financial stability, are expected to help the country navigate the fallout from global economic shifts and domestic difficulties. Continued disbursements under the EFF program reflect international confidence in Ukraine’s economic policies and its commitment to implementing essential reforms.
