Drones Replace Artillery: How Ukraine Gained a Technological Edge on the Battlefield.
Ukraine’s Tactical Advantage in Modern Warfare
According to UATV: Ukraine’s defense forces have secured a battlefield advantage through the use of unmanned systems and precision strikes. The war launched by Russia against Ukraine has shifted from a static, positional conflict into a high-tech confrontation, opening up new opportunities for Ukrainian troops. Notably, corps-level drones are now taking over roles once filled by corps artillery, significantly improving the effectiveness of attacks.
Ukraine’s corps-level strike capabilities now cover the entire temporarily occupied territory, including the coast of the Sea of Azov. This enables Ukrainian forces to scale up the use of deep strikes and mid-range strikes, greatly expanding their ability to target military assets in Crimea. In addition, operations are being conducted against key economic and political sites both inside Russia and beyond its borders.
“Moreover, over the past year, Ukraine’s capabilities have grown substantially,” said Pavel Lakiychuk.
Stabilization of the front line and the combat readiness of the Ukrainian army significantly strengthen Kyiv’s position at the negotiating table, pushing back against Russian ultimatums, as noted by Andriy Sybiha. These factors highlight that Ukraine’s defense forces hold strategic advantages that could shape the future trajectory of the conflict.
How Ukraine’s Military Is Adapting to New Realities
The shift toward high-tech warfare has allowed Ukraine not only to conduct military operations more efficiently but also to reinforce its standing in peace talks. This demonstrates that the Ukrainian army is adapting to evolving conditions, which could alter the dynamics of the conflict and influence future decisions on a peaceful resolution. The growing role of advanced technology on the battlefield also underscores the need for continued investment in military modernization to safeguard Ukraine’s national security.
