Ukraine received long-range 'gifts' from Australia.
Ukraine received planning aviation bombs JDAM-ER with extended range from Australia.
"Australia handed over to Ukraine planning bombs Joint Direct Attack Munition Extended-Range (JDAM-ER) after they were withdrawn from the reserves of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF)," reads a report from Australian Defence, as reported by Ukrinform.
According to the Ministry of Defence's plan for guided weapons and explosive munitions, the Australian Mk.82 500lb JDAM-ER munitions were retired from service in 2021, along with the decommissioning of the fleet of F/A-18A/B Classic Hornet aircraft.
"Now, ADM can confirm that at least part of this weapon was later transferred to Ukraine as part of Australia's support for the warring country. However, it is unclear when the munitions were transferred to Ukraine," the report states.
According to the publication, the first known use of JDAM-ER bombs in Ukraine was in March 2023, but supplies were made from the United States. Only in April 2024 did Australia confirm that it had supplied unspecified air-to-ground munitions to Ukraine.
In July 2024, Australia's Ministry of Defence announced a further donation of unspecified air-to-ground weapons as part of a package worth $250 million.
