Ukraine has outlined 'red lines' for a peace deal with Putin: details from The Independent.
Ukraine has set a number of 'red lines' for a peace deal with Putin if the war comes to an end. These lines concern territories and other issues.
U.S. President Donald Trump described the negotiations with Russia as 'good and productive', but Putin has been accused of using delay tactics.
Ukraine has a clear stance on several key areas of negotiation following a ceasefire. They include non-acceptance of further territorial concessions, the return of children and civilians not considered prisoners of war, and security guarantees if Putin violates the ceasefire agreement.
Ukraine has come to terms with the fact that occupied territories will remain under Russian control while a ceasefire is in effect. However, any further loss of territory will be considered a 'red line'.
Ukrainian officials are concerned about the prolonged negotiations from Russia, viewing it merely as a game. They want a lasting peace and are playing games with Putin to show who is smarter.
In the future, Ukraine may face the necessity of giving up parts of its territories in exchange for security guarantees.
The majority of U.S. citizens do not support Trump's approach to relations with Russia and his position on the war in Ukraine. A peaceful resolution to the conflict is impossible until 2026.
