Ukraine Seeks International Support to Shield Energy Infrastructure

According to Novyny.live: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has announced a global fundraising initiative to bolster the nation's energy sector against harsh winter conditions and ongoing Russian attacks. This urgent appeal comes as Ukraine faces potential power supply restrictions of up to 16 hours per day. The country's energy grid, already damaged by targeted strikes, is under severe strain from the seasonal cold.

As part of this effort, Poland has already raised over 40 million hryvnias (approximately $1 million USD) for the 'Warmth for Kyiv' project. Nearly 24,000 donors in Poland participated in the charity campaign, demonstrating significant international solidarity.

Andrii Sybiha called on concerned citizens worldwide, urging communities, civil society, parliaments, regional and local politicians, thought leaders, media, and other groups to respond to this appeal.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, along with First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal, have endorsed this initiative, emphasizing the critical need for a united effort to confront the nation's energy challenges.

International Aid and Energy Security

Ukraine is counting on robust international support to ensure stability in its energy sector this winter, a matter of vital importance for civilian survival under these difficult conditions.

The funds raised aim not only to mitigate the immediate effects of blackouts and shelling but also to strengthen Ukraine's energy infrastructure for the future. This initiative underscores the importance of international solidarity in times of crisis and Ukraine's readiness for constructive dialogue with partners to ensure long-term energy security.
