What preceded it

Notably, on August 5, five citizens of Ukraine held in 'Dariali' announced an indefinite hunger strike demanding to be allowed to cross the Georgian border. Others began to join them.

In response, Ukrainian consuls urgently left for the site and appealed to the Georgian authorities for unhindered access to their citizens. The consuls remain in constant contact with the Ukrainians at the checkpoint.
