New Financial Support for Ukrainians with Group II Disabilities: What Benefits Will Change in 2026.
Social Guarantees for People with Group II Disabilities in Ukraine
According to Novyny.live: In Ukraine, individuals classified under Group II disability are entitled to specific social guarantees, benefits, and financial aid as outlined in the law 'On the Basics of Social Protection for Persons with Disabilities in Ukraine.' While these individuals can manage daily self-care tasks, they are unable to work under standard conditions. This limitation affects their ability to earn an income, but the government has introduced a range of financial and social support measures to assist this group.
Financial Payments and Benefits
Starting in 2026, the disability pension for Group II recipients will be set at 90% of the standard old-age pension. For instance, if the old-age pension amounts to 4,500 hryvnias, the disability payout will be 4,050 hryvnias. These payments serve as a crucial income source for individuals with disabilities who cannot engage in employment.
Beyond pension benefits, those with Group II disabilities can access several additional advantages:
- A 50% discount on public transportation is available from October 1 through May 15 each year.
- Prescription medications can be purchased at a 50% discount from pharmacies.
These measures enable greater mobility despite health-related challenges and improve access to necessary medical treatments.
Other social protections include priority service at both public and private institutions. This ensures a more comfortable daily experience and fosters greater social integration. Through these benefits and payments, the state aims to create dignified living conditions for Group II disability recipients, acknowledging their work capacity limitations.
Overall, the social guarantees for Ukrainians with Group II disabilities are designed to meet basic needs and enhance quality of life. Continued support for this population represents a key step toward social equity and the inclusion of people with disabilities in society, which can positively impact the nation's overall well-being.
