Ukrainian grows pomegranates weighing 900 grams: why he gives away the harvest for free.
According to inkorr.com: In the Odesa region, in the village of Kotlovina, farmer Mykhailo Tsonkiv transformed a former desert into a pomegranate garden, naming it after his granddaughter. Over the years, the man has grown more than 50 pomegranate bushes that do not require chemical treatment and produce fruits weighing up to 900 grams. He gives away the entire harvest for free. This was reported by 'Hlavkom', citing 'Suspilne'.
Mykhailo arranged the garden on the site of an abandoned area where equipment used to stand. 'I took it, cleaned the territory, and planted the garden. I always love to keep everything tidy. So I took it and brought this territory in order,' shares the farmer.
“That year my granddaughter Masha was born. And spontaneously I called it 'Masha's garden'. And that’s how it goes everywhere for me as 'Masha's garden',” said Mykhailo.
Mykhailo Tsonkiv stated that his pomegranates are grown without any chemical treatment. The plants do not require fungicides or pesticides. In the garden, there are three different varieties of pomegranates that he gives to his friends and acquaintances.
Features of Mykhailo Tsonkiv's pomegranates
Pomegranates in the garden bloom gradually from May to September. On one bush, you can see fruits of different sizes that bloomed at different times. Mykhailo emphasizes that the pomegranate is a subtropical crop that requires an adequate amount of sunlight and wind for growth. He gives away the entire harvest, not selling a single pomegranate.
Mykhailo Tsonkiv created an impressive transformation of an abandoned area, turning it into a pomegranate garden. This activity has become his favorite and has provided people with a tasty, environmentally friendly harvest. His example demonstrates how perseverance and love for nature can become a truly beneficial endeavor for society and the environment.
