Ukrainian pilot congratulated women from the cockpit of a fighter jet.

The pilot of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade from a Su-27 aircraft congratulated the Ukrainian female population on International Women's Day. As reported by 'Glavkom', the corresponding video was published on March 8 on the Facebook page of the 39th Tactical Aviation Brigade.
In the footage, the pilot is seen in the cockpit of the fighter jet holding a bouquet of white tulips.
'Dear women! Today, we thank you not only for your tenderness and warmth, but also for your courage, strength, and resilience. You are the ones who change the world every day, who fight, inspire, and give hope. Your determination to overcome difficulties, your bravery to stand up for justice, and your wisdom to make this world a better place deserve boundless respect. Thank you for everything – for your actions, your love, and your tireless strength. May every day bring you joy, support, and confidence that you are amazing!', - the message under the video reads.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky congratulated Ukrainian women on International Women's Day and peace.
It should be noted that the question regarding the status of March 8 as a day off and the appropriateness of its celebration gains new significance in the context of the country's desire to move away from Soviet heritage. However, despite this, there was a wide selection of seasonal flowers available in flower shops and street sales points in Kyiv. 'Glavkom' prepared a photo report on how the flower business revives the Soviet holiday.
Jewelry stores are also attracting customers with huge discounts ahead of March 8.
It should be reminded that on February 14, 2023, some members of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine proposed introducing certain changes to the Labor Code of Ukraine concerning the establishment of Ukrainian holidays.
In particular, it was about the cancellation of the March 8 holiday (International Women's Day). Bill No. 9009 was registered in parliament but is still under consideration in the committee. Subsequently, a survey was created on the 'Diia' portal regarding the fate of March 8 in Ukraine. Almost 62% of Ukrainians voted to keep International Women's Day as a holiday.
The popularity of International Women's Day on March 8 in Ukraine has been declining in recent years – from 49% in 2017 to 21% in 2024. In 2025, the positive attitude changed within the margin of error – to 23%. This is evidenced by data from a survey conducted by KMIS.
