'Ukrgazvydobuvannya' earns billions: Popenko debunks myths about the need to raise gas prices.
Ukrgazvydobuvannya generated 12.5 billion UAH in net profit at current tariffs
The national company 'Ukrgazvydobuvannya' reported a net profit of 12.5 billion UAH for the first half of 2024 at the existing tariffs for natural gas for the population. This is evidence that there is no need to raise gas prices for this sector. This opinion was expressed by the head of the Consumers' Union of Utility Services Oleg Popenko during Yuriy Romanenko's program.
'In reality, we see that Naftogaz, which has long needed restructuring, is simply redistributing funds earned by its enterprises. This is not a loss, but quite a profitable business,' he emphasized.
Expert Popenko believes that these financial results view the necessity of raising gas tariffs in a completely new light. According to him, at current prices 'Ukrgazvydobuvannya' can not only earn profit, but also significantly increase the volume of natural gas extraction and improve energy efficiency.
